It began in the island named Yurumein today St. Vincent. Our leader Chief Joseph Chatoyer was a warrior that defended the Garinagu land with his soldiers. There is was a famous saying that was said by Barrauda one of Chief Joseph Chatoyer's wives. She said "If you don't want to fight for our lands I'll give you my skirt and I'll take your pant because I will fight". Later the strategy was used to confused the British. March 14, 1795 Chief Joseph Chatoyer was assassinated by the British and the Garinagu were later exiled on March 12, 1797. The Garinagus left Yurumein and settled in Roatan now part of Honduras on April 12, 1797
